Water polo is growing as a sport on the island, and in November we'll be taking the first ever national teams to CARIFTA in Florida, USA. Splash Ball is a non-competitive introduction to water polo, for ages 6 to 11, during which players learn the rules of the game, practice drills and skills, work on swim skills, ball skills, endurance, treading, hand- eye-coordination, and general ocean awareness. Antwan "Myles" McField is the most promising senior player at JGHS—fierce, resilient, and a natural leader with what the team calls a “bionic arm.” He plays with heart, protects his teammates like family, and inspires those around him through his strength and loyalty. Darren Mew, an Olympic swimmer himself, is widely regarded as the best swimming coach in the Cayman Islands. A mentor and role model, his deep commitment to athlete development and unwavering support has left a lasting legacy on Cayman’s aquatic community. Coach Darren also played an integral role in water polo starting on the island, and for that, we can not thank him enough. Each name we share, each scholarship we celebrate, is another reminder: this island is rich with talent and richer still in heart. We’re not just building athletes—we’re building a movement rooted in inclusion, passion, and pride.
